An opportunity has arisen at Simply Conveyancing for a Head of Compliance to be responsible for the overall supervision and operation of the Compliance Department in a busy residential conveyancing practice.


Based in Daventry & reporting to the Head of Legal Practice/Director of Risk and Quality, you'll have a proven track record of managing compliance in a residential conveyancing firm.


This position has become available due to exceptional company growth. As a CLC licenced firm, Simply Conveyancing adheres to rigorous standards. You’ll form part of a busy compliance team assisting with a variety of tasks to ensure that the highest levels of compliance are maintained at all times!


About the role 

  • Managing a busy team of compliance lawyers and an assistant, ensuring ongoing compliance with current regulations and CLC requirements
  • Managing PI insurance notifications and claims
  • Complaint handling
  • Assisting with risk related queries and escalations from all departments
  • Ad hoc problem solving
  • Monitoring the Compliance inbox
  • Involvement in complex ongoing transactions
  • Assisting with aged/complex WIP with the Registrations Team
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors with relevant compliance statistics
  • Lender panel management and protection of panel status
  • Identifying changes and improvements to systems and procedures as a result of claims, complaints, audits and risk reviews
  • Monitoring areas of risk across the business
  • Identifying new and emerging areas of risk
  • Engagement and collaboration with Management, Legal Teams and Central Services in particular with training and development
  • Mentoring and training members of the team


About You 

  • Demonstrable technical ability as a residential conveyancer and in residential conveyancing compliance
  • Experience in dealing with complex conveyancing transactions
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Capable of managing a varied workload whilst adhering to deadlines
  • Ability to balance risk based decisions with commercial awareness
  • Experience of complaint handling
  • Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills
  • Understands process driven working methods
  • Experience of workflow based case management systems
